Not sure where to stay in Vegas, never been. Considering Treasure Island, middle of strip, sub $100 per night. Any thoughts?

The strip is big. Very big. Vegas city blocks are enormous. If you stay somewhere central, it's really good. "Just a block away from" places are a looooong walk.

I've never stayed on the strip but it's easy to fathom once you've been there :~{} Use Ceasers palace and the Bellagio as a center point. That's *basically* the epi-centre, depending on what you want to do and where you want to go. Even places like treasure island and the luxor seem to be a fair walk if you're going back and forth. I'll send you a map..
